Technical care for our pets can be complicated! Because of that, there’s often things we can help with that we won’t think to put on our services page. If you have questions, we have answers… or at least we can figure it out together! Give us a call if you have questions we’re not answering here.
Roaming Veterinary Team F.A.Q.
What is an RVT?
RVT is the professional acronym for Registered Veterinary Technician, the legal designation for a licensed veterinary nurse in Colorado.
RVTs are not doctors and therefore are not given the authority to diagnose diseases or prescribe medications for your pets. However, these skilled professionals are the technical experts of the veterinary world, bringing the directives of their DVM colleagues into fruition just as a Registered Nurse facilitates the directives of the MDs.
Is Roaming Veterinary Team part of White Whiskers Aging Pet Care?
Roaming Veterinary Team is the sister company of White Whiskers Aging Pet Care. As a technician-based and run company, Roaming is able to take the more technical appointments to your home at the referral of your primary veterinarian. We share some of our team and ownership between our sister businesses.
How do I schedule an appointment?
We look forward to conversing with you, whether that’s through phone, text or email! You can call or text us at 719-445-ROAM or email us at contactus@rvtcos.com to schedule an appointment. Or feel free to send us an inquiry from our website here!
What is a referral appointment?
Referral appointments require a veterinarian’s approval or oversight prior to scheduling with our technicians. You can request for your primary care veterinarian to write you a referral to our services or you can see one of our in-house doctors for an initial consultation, after which you’re free to see our tech team. This saves you time and money by minimizing the number of doctor interactions per appointment, all from the comfort and ease of your own home.
Do I need a referral?
Some of our services require a doctor’s directive while others do not. You can review our complete list of services and whether or not a referral is required here.
What is an independent service?
Independent services are doctor-free appointments that we can schedule without involving a DVM. You can review our complete list of our services and whether or not they require a veterinary referral here. Simply reach out to our office team to schedule an independent service at your convenience; and if you have questions about a needed service that isn’t listed on our website, please give us a call!
How do travel fees work?
We believe in cost transparency, that’s why we include travel in the price for all of our Colorado Springs families. No travel math required.
If you live in a neighboring Pikes Peak Front Range community, we are happy to travel to you. Please reach out to our office team to learn about our low fees for our neighbors. As our team zigs and zags from the plains to the mountains to visit you, this fee allows us to compensate them for their time. For those charged a travel fee, we appreciate your understanding.
Services F.A.Q.
Do you provide grooming?
We can offer the grooming equivalent of a mom in the kitchen giving bowl haircuts. We’re not salon artisans and your pet may get teased at the park, but if you need a functional trim (i.e. potty patch, mats, ear plucks), we can help.
Do you offer vaccines?
There are circumstances when your pet struggles with going into the vet for vaccines. We work with your veterinarian, if there’s extenuating circumstances…we’re happy to help, contact us.
Can I schedule an injury/illness appointment with you?
Some appointments are technical in nature, but still require regular doctor input. Ruling out infection or worsening of a wound prior to being rebandaged is important and should therefore receive overview from a veterinarian first. For that reason, we limit the amount of injury or illness appointments we provide to a case by case basis due to their dynamic natures. We’d love to provide all the services to you and your pet, but providing best practice care for your pet is of the utmost importance to us.
